CATALONIA WEDDING VENUES

Catalonia wedding venues

Choosing the right venue is one of the decisions that most shapes a wedding: the surroundings, the rhythm of the day, and the way each moment is experienced. As a Barcelona-based wedding photographer, I spend the season travelling through masias and wedding estates across Catalonia, and there are some I always find myself wanting to return to.

This is my personal selection, based on my experience photographing weddings at each venue and, most importantly, on what they truly offer couples: the spaces, the type of celebration they allow, the accommodation, the ease of having everything in one place, and the atmosphere that comes to life on the wedding day.

Masía Cabellut (Penedès)

Masia Cabellut is a picturesque vineyard wedding venue near Barcelona, and a wonderful choice for couples looking for a more private and relaxed wedding experience. I know it well: I’ve photographed several weddings here, including Hannah and Michael’s wedding.

What makes Masia Cabellut particularly special is the possibility of having the entire estate for your wedding. The property can accommodate up to 16 guests across seven beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms, making it ideal for staying together with your closest family and friends.

You can host welcome drinks, spend time together before the wedding, celebrate the ceremony and dinner, and enjoy the following morning without needing to move between different locations. As a private, self-contained venue, it’s especially well suited to multi-day weddings, giving you and your guests the freedom to turn your wedding into a full weekend rather than just a single day.

For couples planning a wedding weekend near Barcelona, Masia Cabellut offers privacy, accommodation and the flexibility to make the celebration feel completely your own, all within a beautiful countryside setting.

El Convent de Blanes

El Convent de Blanes is one of those places where the sea is present throughout the entire day. Built in 1583 on Punta de Santa Anna, at the beginning of the Costa Brava, its gardens open directly onto the Mediterranean, with views across Blanes and the coastline.

The ceremony, aperitif and dinner can all take place here, surrounded by gardens, nature and the sea as a backdrop to it all. It’s a venue with plenty of history and character, but what I love most is the way the landscape becomes part of the wedding itself.

Hostal La Gavina

Hostal La Gavina is one of the most special places to get married on the Costa Brava. The hotel has stood above Sant Pol Bay for almost a century and offers an especially convenient setting for a wedding: you can have your ceremony in the gardens overlooking the sea, or get married at the Nostra Senyora de l’Esperança church, just a few minutes from the hotel.

Afterwards, the aperitif, dinner and party can all continue at La Gavina, surrounded by gardens, terraces and views of the Mediterranean, without having to change locations.

Castell de Tamarit

A medieval castle overlooking the Mediterranean, surrounded by gardens and with a small Romanesque chapel within the grounds – a combination that’s quite hard to find.

Couples can choose between a civil ceremony overlooking the sea or a religious ceremony in the chapel, and then continue the celebration right there with the aperitif, dinner and party. Having everything within the castle grounds makes the day feel effortless, with no need to move between different venues or locations.

It’s a beautiful option for couples who want a wedding by the sea but also something with a little more character and history. And being able to have the ceremony, dinner and party all in the same place makes the whole day much easier for you and your guests.

Wherever your love story takes you, I’d love to hear about it. If your masia isn’t on this list, tell me about it – discovering a new place is one of my favourite parts of the job.
