Catalonia Wedding venues

Catalonia wedding venues

Choosing the right venue is one of the decisions that most shapes a wedding: the surroundings, the rhythm of the day, and the way each moment is experienced. As a Barcelona-based wedding photographer, I spend the season travelling through masias and wedding estates across Catalonia, and there are some I always find myself wanting to return to.

This is my personal selection, based on my experience photographing weddings at each venue and, most importantly, on what they truly offer couples: the spaces, the type of celebration they allow, the accommodation, the ease of having everything in one place, and the atmosphere that comes to life on the wedding day.

Hostal La Gavina

Hostal La Gavina is one of the most exclusive wedding venues on the Costa Brava, offering an unforgettable setting for a luxury destination wedding in Spain. Overlooking the beautiful Sant Pol Bay in S’Agaró, this iconic five-star hotel has stood above the Mediterranean for almost a century, combining timeless elegance, exceptional sea views and the charm of the Catalan coast.

Couples can exchange vows in the hotel’s beautiful gardens overlooking the sea or choose a religious ceremony at the nearby Nostra Senyora de l’Esperança church, just a few minutes away. After the ceremony, the celebration can continue at La Gavina, with the wedding aperitif, reception dinner and party all taking place among its lush gardens, elegant terraces and breathtaking Mediterranean views.

For couples dreaming of a seaside wedding on the Costa Brava, Hostal La Gavina offers a unique combination of luxury accommodation, beautiful event spaces and an unforgettable coastal atmosphere. Its location in S’Agaró, near Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Platja d’Aro, also makes it an exceptional choice for an elegant destination wedding in Catalonia.

Masía Cabellut (Penedès)

Masia Cabellut is a picturesque vineyard wedding venue near Barcelona, and a wonderful choice for couples looking for a more private and relaxed wedding experience. I know it well: I’ve photographed several weddings here, including Hannah and Michael’s wedding.

What makes Masia Cabellut particularly special is the possibility of having the entire estate for your wedding. The property can accommodate up to 16 guests across seven beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms, making it ideal for staying together with your closest family and friends.

You can host welcome drinks, spend time together before the wedding, celebrate the ceremony and dinner, and enjoy the following morning without needing to move between different locations. As a private, self-contained venue, it’s especially well suited to multi-day weddings, giving you and your guests the freedom to turn your wedding into a full weekend rather than just a single day.

For couples planning a wedding weekend near Barcelona, Masia Cabellut offers privacy, accommodation and the flexibility to make the celebration feel completely your own, all within a beautiful countryside setting.

El Convent de Blanes

El Convent de Blanes is a unique wedding venue on the Costa Brava, offering a spectacular Mediterranean setting for couples dreaming of a romantic seaside wedding in Catalonia, Spain. Built in 1583 on Punta de Santa Anna, at the beginning of the Costa Brava, this historic venue combines architectural character, beautiful natural surroundings and panoramic sea views overlooking Blanes and the rugged Catalan coastline.

Its gardens open directly onto the Mediterranean, creating a beautiful backdrop for an outdoor wedding ceremony, a relaxed cocktail reception and an elegant wedding dinner. Couples can celebrate different parts of their wedding day in the same location, surrounded by nature, lush gardens and the sound of the sea.

With its historic charm and privileged coastal location, El Convent de Blanes is an ideal choice for couples planning a destination wedding on the Costa Brava or looking for a distinctive Mediterranean wedding venue near Barcelona. The combination of history, sea views and outdoor spaces makes it a memorable setting for an intimate celebration or a stylish coastal wedding in Spain.

Castell de Tamarit

Set above the Mediterranean, Castell de Tamarit, combines centuries-old architecture with beautiful gardens and a charming Romanesque chapel, creating a unique backdrop for a destination wedding in Catalonia.

Couples can choose between a civil wedding ceremony with sea views or a religious ceremony in the chapel, followed by the wedding cocktail reception, dinner and party, all within the castle grounds. Having every part of the celebration in one location creates a seamless wedding experience, allowing couples and their guests to enjoy the day without travelling between venues.

For couples looking for a historic wedding venue by the sea, this castle offers a beautiful balance of Mediterranean scenery, medieval character and timeless elegance. It is an ideal option for a luxury wedding on the Costa Daurada, combining the romance of a seaside celebration with the atmosphere of a historic estate in Catalonia.

Wherever your love story takes you, I’d love to hear about it. If your masia isn’t on this list, tell me about it – discovering a new place is one of my favourite parts of the job.
